Searching for a lawyer on-line
The NAMUR Bar has set up an on-line search service.
The on-line search is a tool created to allow greater interaction between defendants and lawyers.
In effect, this tool allows any defendant to get in contact with a lawyer of his/her choice and request legal advice.
Either you know the name of the lawyer that you have chosen, and enter his/her name in the system in order to get in direct contact with him/her, or you have not yet chosen a lawyer. In the latter case, you can find a lawyer who is specialised in the subject in which the latter must intervene, thanks to a search engine by preferred activity.
The lawyer that you have chosen must, prior to any consultation, check :
- that there is no conflict of interest that might result from such a consultation;
- potentially that the law of 11 January 1993 relating to the prevention of use of the financial system for money-laundering has been properly adhered to.
Once the two initial phases of the process (see below) are complete and an advance payment has been made in favour of the lawyer, the latter responds to the requested consultation.
Unless other arrangements have been made with the lawyer, a statement of costs and fees is therefore drawn up before the lawyer responds to the consultation. Payment is made using a secure method, either by credit card (Visa, Eurocard/MasterCard), debit card (Bancontact/Mister cash) or by bank transfer.
An agreement bind you with the lawyer that you have chosen. This agreement is filed in your "client" area. You are able to consult this at any time.
Warning :
This site is secure (https://) and guarantees the confidentiality of any exchanges with your lawyer and the respect of professional secrecy. For these reasons, the on-line consultation module may work slower than the rest of the website.
